Aspen launches new ultra low-noise amplifiers
Published:  09 December, 2009

Specialist RF & Microwave component distributor, Aspen Electronics, has announced the immediate availability of a new range of ultra-stable, ultra-low noise amplifiers, targeted directly at high reliability applications.

Designed and built in the US by Ciao Wireless, the amplifiers in this comprehensive family are available with frequency bands in the range from 1.0 to 2.9 GHz.  Ultra low noise is the key feature of Ciao’s devices with noise figures as low as 0.3dB typical to 0.5dB maximum, depending on model.

The amplifiers feature multiple frequency, gain and other options, including variable gain control, input limiter protection, integrated bias-T detectors, RF mute, and TTL control.  And if none of these exactly suit the target application specification, units can be customised at no extra charge.

Additional technical specifications include: gain of 30 to 40dB minimum, 32 to 42dB typical; gain flatness of +/-1.0dB; and typical current output of 60 or 120mA, 12/15V dc. All models include internal voltage regulation and reverse polarity protection.

Aimed at high reliability applications such as radar, wireless communications, satellite communications and test instrumentation in commercial, medical, military, avionics and space sectors, these amplifiers, like all Ciao’s RF & Microwave products, undergo 100% stability testing, conducted as part of normal production acceptance test procedures. Environmental screening is available as an option.

The amplifiers are available immediately from Aspen Electronics, with delivery typically in 2-3 weeks, including special designs. Units can be supplied in RoHS compliant versions, or with traditional leaded solder contacts for RoHS-exempt applications.
