Torex launches next generation of low noise amplifiers
Published:  25 January, 2012

Torex has unveiled its next generation of Low Noise Amplifiers (LNA). Using an advanced CMOS process the XC2406/7/8 are high-gain LNA, offering both low noise operation (NF) and ultra low power consumption.

Across the range, the Noise Figure (NF) is 0.96dB (typ.) at 1.575GHz and all three LNA include a CE pin to enable direct ON/OFF control of the LNA from a base band chip without need for power line control by an LDO or other device, thereby increasing system design freedom.

The XC2408 is optimised for applications requiring higher gain with S21 of 22dB (typ.) at 1.575GHz, whereas the XC2407 focuses on lower power consumption and consumes only 3.9mA (typ.) during operation. Combining the best of both worlds, the XC2406 maintains S21 of 18dB (typ.) and consumes only 6.6mA (typ.) which reduces to 0.1uA (max) during standby.

With an Operating Voltage Range from 1.71V to 3.63V, the XC2406/7/8 offer easy output matching to 50Ω and only need five (5) external components, allowing designers to minimise PCB area and reduce placement costs.

The XC2406/7/8 series are available in an environmentally friendly USP-8A01 package, measuring only 1.5 x 1.5mm with a maximum height of just 0.6mm.
