Allegro Microsystems launches new LNB supply and control voltage regulator ICs
Published:  04 January, 2012

The new A8295, A8297 and A8298 from Allegro MicroSystems Europe are the latest generation of devices in a family of single and dual low-noise block (LNB) supply and control voltage regulator ICs designed for use in satellite receivers in set-top boxes and LCD television sets.

The devices are fully integrated linear and switching voltage regulators that are specifically designed to provide the power and the interface signals to an LNB down-converter via coaxial cable. They offer increased internal protection and robustness, an integrated boost MOSFET, current sensing, and compensation, all of which combine to simplify users’ designs, minimise the need for external components, and reduce PCB size.

All the devices have a reduced supply current to save energy, built-in diagnostic capabilities, and a resistor-programmed output current limit to minimise the boost inductor/diode size and costs.

The A8295SESTR-T and the A8298SESTR-T are available in a 4 × 4 mm TQFN/MLP-20 package, while the A8297SETTR-T is available in a 5 × 5 mm TQFN/MLP-28 package.
