RS Components now stocking STM32F4 Discovery Kit from STMicroelectronics
Published:  07 November, 2011

RS Components (RS) is stocking the STM32F4 Discovery Kit from STMicroelectronics. The kit provides an ultra low-cost development environment that enables engineers to start designing into applications quickly using the new STM32F4 series, currently the world’s highest performance ARM Cortex-M microcontrollers.

Based on the STM32F407VGT6 microcontroller featuring a 32-bit ARM Cortex-M4 core, the kit includes an ST-LINK/V2 embedded tool for rapid debugging and programming; a MEMS motion sensor; a MEMS digital microphone plus audio DAC with integrated class D speaker driver; indicator LEDs; pushbuttons; and a USB OTG micro-AB connector.

RS is now also stocking devices from the recently launched STM32F4 microcontroller family, including the STM32F405RGT6, STM32F407IGH6 and STM32F407IGT6. The new devices enable developers to leverage the advanced signal-processing capabilities and increased speed of the ARM Cortex-M4 processor with Floating Point Unit (FPU), thus widening applications to the digital signal controller (DSC) market.

Commenting Jon Boxall, Global Head of Semiconductors and Test & Measurement at RS Components said, “The STM32F4 Discovery Kit is an excellent design tool and an important new addition to the RS portfolio. It provides engineers with everything they need to start a design based on a high performance STM32F4 microcontroller, and fits perfectly within the RS offering as a solution to ease and accelerate the design process for electronics engineers, a key feature at the heart of the RS strategy.”
