Digi-Key Corporation has announced that it is to cease production of its print catalogue and will offer its products exclusively online beginning immediately. According to the distributor by eliminating its printed catalogues it will help to preserve the environment while continuing its strategic shift to becoming a totally integrated, global electronic-components distributor.
“By producing interactive and PDF catalogues and magazines, Digi-Key will significantly reduce its impact on the environment while providing customers with efficient, virtual access to Digi-Key’s expansive product offerings,”said Mark Larson, president and COO, Digi-Key Corporation.
According to Larson, “Our portfolio of websites and online resources will give our customers greater access to Digi-Key’s in-stock products, while providing unparalleled information about real-time pricing, lead-times and product specifications, as well as videos, reference designs, custom editorial content and more.”
In addition Digi-Key will produce online-only versions of its TechZone Magazine beginning with the June 2011 Lighting Solutions issue. Customers will be able to access both the product catalogue and the magazines as downloadable PDFs and interactively online. TechZone Magazine is also mobile-enabled for users with an iPhone, iPod, iPad or Android-compatible mobile device. Both the Digi-Key interactive and PDF catalogues will also be mobile-enabled in the future.
