AVX develops new RF/Microwave capacitor series
Published:  31 January, 2011

AVX Corporation, a manufacturer of passive components and interconnect solutions, has developed a new capacitor series that provides low ESR and can handle high RF currents in applications including, microwave RF/IF amplifiers, low noise amplifiers, mixers, oscillators, filter networks and MRI systems.

The MK Series of high temperature capacitors feature low ESR and high Q values combined with a wide capacitance range of 0.1pF to 1000pF and voltage ratings of 50 VDC to 500 VDC.

Exhibiting NP0 characteristics that include low loss, electrical stability and 0 ± 30 ppm temperature coefficient, the RoHS-compliant MK Series capacitors have an operating temperature range of -55˚C to +125˚C.

“The new MK Series capacitors continues the company’s tradition of developing advanced components designed specifically for high reliability, high temperature and harsh environment applications. The MK Series is the beginning of AVX’s product expansion to its already broad RF capacitor offering,” said Larry Eisenberger, senior marketing applications engineer at AVX.

Available in EIA sizes 0402, 0603, 0805 and 1210 case sizes, the MK Series high temperature RF capacitors feature a 100% tin finish on their terminations. Non-magnetic RF capacitor versions are currently under development and scheduled for distribution later this year.
