Aaren Technology, the UK-based supplier of RF and microwave components for commercial and professional communications markets, has announced the availability of a new range of low-cost, high performance SMA connectors that covers the entire frequency range from DC to 27GHz in a single device. These SMA connectors will be useful for manufacturers of active and passive microwave components, such as amplifiers, filters, isolators, oscillators, mixers, transmitters and receivers, as well as to manufacturers of instrumentation, telecoms, avionics and high end radio equipment.
The wide frequency range makes these connectors suitable for OEMs and component manufacturers who require several different SMAs to cover this range, allowing customers to purchase a single connector type for all applications, at the price comparable with lower frequency models. Previously, manufacturers may have had to purchase two or three different connector types, such as a low cost SMA connector for products up to 7GHz, a medium priced device for products up to 18GHz and a high performance, higher cost product for systems operating up to 27GHz. The AT37P-41 Series of stainless steel, field replaceable, precision SMA connectors feature beryllium copper-plated gold contacts and PTFE insulator. Mounting options include 2 and 4-hole flange, with four different pin diameters are available: 0.30mm, 0.38mm, 0.46mm and 0.51mm. Other Aaren Technology 27GHz SMA designs are also available including, bulkhead thread-in, PCB mount and post contact, in both male & female configurations. Performance parameters include a VSWR of 1.15:1 at 27GHz, 50 nominal impedance and a durability of 500 cycles. Power handling capability is quoted at 150W @ 125°C for standard models with an operating temperature range of -50°C to +125°C. High performance versions meeting Mil Stds are rated at 160W @ 165°C over the temperature range from -60°C to +165°C, ideal for defence contractors looking for cost effective Commercial Off The Shelf (COTS) products. Manufactured in the Far East, the devices are RoHS compliant.
