Avnet Embedded, an EMEA distributor of Option embedded solutions, has introduced the wireless industry’s first 3G PCie module with an integrated SIM card holder and micro SD card holder and optional WiFi. 

Sierra Wireless has announced a new addition to its AirPrime Q Series of embedded wireless modules. The AirPrime Q2698 adds support for 3G HSPA+ on five frequency bands to the AirPrime Q Series, along with support for 2G GSM/GPRS/EDGE on four frequency bands, making it compatible with networks worldwide and suitable for global deployments.

Amplifier Technology Ltd, a UK company that both designs and manufactures broadband power amplifiers has unveiled the latest addition to its product range: the 8817 broadband amplifier which operates across a huge spectrum, covering all frequencies between 0.5GHz and 2.5GHz.

B&B Electronics, a developer of rugged wireless and wired M2M connectivity solutions has launched its first 802.11 b/g* WiFi access point to provide M2M equipment with wireless networking capabilities. It is first fruit of B&B’s October 2011 acquisition of Quatech, whose Airborne wireless networking devices feature WiFi connectivity technology to network-enable industrial M2M devices.

Semiconductor specialists, Microsemi Corporation, have introduced a suite of system and power management design tools for high availability wired and wireless communications infrastructure equipment. The new design tools include Microsemi’s Mixed Signal Power Manager (MPM) 4.0 reference design, which supports up to 64 power rails and mixed analogue and digital point-of-loads (POLs), as well as PMBus-based communication.

Renesas Mobile Corporation has said that it has undertaken the world’s first pre-commercial trial of the latest version of Voice Services over Adaptive Multi-user Orthogonal Sub-channel (VAMOS II), the next step in the evolution of GSM technology. Held on a test network in Beijing, and using ZTE infrastructure equipment, the successful trial involved a complete implementation of VAMOS II on Renesas Mobile’s smartphone reference platform RRP11B. The results showed a twofold increase in available network capacity including pairing with legacy terminals.

Vishay Intertechnology is broadening its optoelectronics portfolio with the release of two infrared (IR) receivers developed specifically for universal 3D TV glasses.  The new TSMP6000 and TSMP77000 are surface-mount IR receivers designed to receive any infrared signal used for 3D TV synchronization, and this capability will help to simplify the design of universal 3D TV eyewear.
